Maritza Planas Vega

Staff Accountant

Maritza joined our firm in December of 2007.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico in 1993. 

Maritza began her accounting career in 1993 as an internal accountant for an Industrial chemicals distributor in Puerto Rico.  In 2003, Maritza accepted a position as a senior accountant with a public accounting firm in Puerto Rico.  In 2007, she moved to Florida and began working as an accountant with a public accounting firm in Pembroke Pines.  She subsequently joined our team as a staff accountant in 2007.

Maritza’s role is essential to the efficiencies we maintain at Elerick & Elerick.  She provides tax and accounting support to the other preparers in the office, and has first-level responsibility for many of the tax compliance services we offer to our clients on a monthly basis, including state sales tax preparation, and real-time payroll services.  Maritza is also the lead team member in providing financial statement audit support in conjunction with the City of Orlando, Florida and Orange County, Florida Minority and Women Business Enterprise Programs.  

Maritza is proficient in the following areas:

  • Intuit QuickBooks accounting software
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Individual income tax
  • Corporate income tax
  • State sales tax
  • Federal and state payroll tax services
  • Governmental audit support to national and multi-national  audit firms

In addition to her accounting skills, Maritza is fluent in English and Spanish.
